Titlu Job: Database Administrator
TASKS:
- Be responsible for ensuring availability and performance of the databases that support the system – ORACLE and MS SQL Server.
- Work with the team to ensure that the associated hardware resources are allocated to the databases and to ensure high availability and optimum performance.
- Proactively monitor the database systems to ensure secure services with minimum downtime.
- Be responsible for providing trend analysis to the service management team to enable them to make informed decisions regarding resource management.
- Be responsible for providing helpdesk support to users.
- Be responsible for the continuous monitoring of the entire network ensuring its operation and the expected performance levels and collecting statistics on its operation (from both operational and maintenance point of view).
- Be responsible for problem escalation to RFID Contractors support team and third parties as appropriate.
- Be responsible for improvement and maintenance of the databases to include rollout and upgrades.
- Be responsible for effective management of production and test environments.
- Be responsible for implementation and release of database changes as submitted by the RFID Contractor support team and agreed by the System Manager. Work closely with the helpdesk, functional end users, system management team and RFID Contractor. Work with the System Manager and the infrastructure team to coordinate and implement upgrades, patches and resolve any cross-functional issues.
- Support the development team for functional enhancements, troubleshooting and resolution.
- Manage the total work effort including absence and leave planning, task scheduling, time accounting, preparation of monthly time sheets and task reports and implementation of quality controls.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Oracle Database Administration experience (over 5 years). In this capacity, the candidate must have performed duties such as installing, upgrading, and supporting Oracle DB software and applications in a multi-tier environment. This environment should have comprised database server, applications server (Weblogic), web server (Apache), in a UNIX cluster environment.
- Experience of managing RDBMS (Relational Database Management Systems) on large systems. In particular, the candidate must be conversant with Oracle Database 10g product versions in Solaris/ Sun Cluster production environment with high availability service requirements (at least 3+year’s experience).
- Experience with Oracle Database backup/recovery, monitoring, patching, upgrades, performance tuning and administration, to provide a high availability service.
- In depth knowledge of the database architecture, with particular reference to schemas/products, database objects, file system structure, tables, views, packages, procedures, functions, triggers, sequences, indexes and constraints.
- Sound knowledge of VERITAS Backup, Oracle Recovery Manager (RMAN) and SAN Storage.
- Good documentation & automation (UNIX scripting) skills
- Familiarity with helpdesk infrastructure and procedures (knowledge of incident tracking / ticketing tools - severities/priorities/re-assigning/escalating).
- Familiarity with configuration management / versioning procedures and tools.
- Experience of working in a team that delivers a high availability service.
- Good knowledge and experience in UNIX (Solaris) and Windows Server environments.
- Oracle Certification (OCP). This can only be substituted by 3-5 years proven and continuous experience record at OCP level.
