Titlu Job: Director of Engineering

Position Overview As an active member of the cross border management team, this newly created senior level position is expected to substantially contribute to the successful development of next generation imaging solutions. The successful candidate will need to rely on technical expertise and leadership experience to meet and exceed expectations. The role will be reporting to VP of Engineering Responsibilities include ongoing assessment and shaping of the development team to ensure maximum effectiveness, strategic and tactical planning based on industry trends and emerging technologies. Provide leadership and foster a culture of creativity, innovation and performance in a well managed, structured product development function. The position requires strong leadership capabilities, as well as roll-up-your sleeves / hands on mentality, as this individual will be deeply involved with all development and strategic issues. Primary Responsibilities The Director of Engineering will build, manage, mentor and provide day to day leadership of the R&D engineering team in Bucharest. He/she ensures that products are defined and delivered to meet business and client expectations. Key Areas of Focus Lead Bucharest engineering organization in day to day operations. Provide project and people leadership and development for a highly motivated and skilled Engineering group with an ability to establish credibility with the engineering teams quickly. On project/program basis, lead the interaction of Bucharest engineering team with other engineering teams across Tessera optics teams. Manage a costed and prioritized program of engineering projects to support the organization\'s plans. Responsible for executing projects on-time and on budget, through the use of Program/Project Managers. Communicate information about the status of portfolio of programs. Work with Project Management, QA, IT and Product Management teams to establish development objectives and timelines, managing resources to support product deliverables. Must work “hands-on” in engineering team when required to solve emergency customer product problems/bugs etc. Defining the development team organization, including recruiting new staff, when required. Manage to an agreed expense budget. Provide job mentoring and coaching, as well as identifying training and development needs for the team. Key Skills & Experience : Experience in planning, execution of complex engineering projects and monitoring remote teams and projects development simultaneously in multiple geographical locations. Experience in collaboration in cross-site, cross-discipline international projects, working with teams from other cultures. Natural people manager & leader with strongly developed management skills, ability to develop and coach high performing professional engineering teams. Excellent negotiation, motivational and influencing skills. Excellent understanding of imaging technologies, image and/or signal processing, embedded algorithm development or excellent understanding of DSP, FPGA, ASIC and microprocessor technologies Excellent understanding of computing systems architectures and design process Good understanding of SOC design flow and HW/SW interaction and partition Demonstrated proficiency developing and architecting functional software modules. Proven track record of product and project delivery, experience managing teams comprising of 20 or more software development engineers responsible for commercial-quality software product development. Willing to travel globally in support of customers at short notice. Additionally, participation in early morning or late night calls with Asia and the USA will be required. Bachelors, Computer Engineering and/or Computer Science and/or Electrical Engineering or equivalent engineering discipline. Masters or PhD preferred.
